Blue Origin Roars & Rumbles With the Second New Glenn Launch!

Blue Origin successfully launched its second New Glenn rocket on Thursday, sending EscaPADE, two Mars communication satellites on a long trip toward Mars. The mission will help scientists better understand how the Sun gradually stripped away Mars’ once-thick atmosphere.

New Glenn is the centerpiece of Blue Origin’s launch program, founded by Jeff Bezos. Standing 321 feet tall, the heavy-lift rocket fired up its seven methane-fueled engines at 3:55 p.m. EST. With 3.8 million pounds of thrust, the rocket climbed smoothly into the sky, beginning its journey beyond Earth.
